Fashion Confessions

This shoot was sort of, kind of, not really an extension of the last fashion confession using the same method as this shoot here

In terms of my own fashion, I bought way too many new clothes for my vacation, but I really paid attention to prints and colors that I loved and that ALSO looked good on me. That's a new thing for me. It's hard for me to put something back that's a print or color that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE even if it doesn't look good on me, but I'm getting better with it.

As for the colors of this shoot, they seriously speak to me.

52 Week Project: Week 27

Vacation, Vacation, Vacation.  In my dreams, I can wear these paints all year round, all rooms are bright white with beautiful sunlight pouring in, and I have a collection of hundreds of these soft blue bottles.  That's not too much to ask for, right?

Happy Tuesday!

Nature Nerd: Summer Morning Light

I am a morning person, and have always been a morning person.  You know...the type that often gets the dirty look with the high pitched voice of, "You get up at what time?!".

One good thing about getting up early, though, is the gorgeous morning light. It just never gets old.

Oh nature, I'm totally crushing on your early morning hues.

Fashion Confessions

I've been wanting to do this shoot for awhile after finding images like thisthis, and this over and over again.  What I realized, though, is that self-portraits in a bathtub with a wet (heavy) dress really isn't the easiest.

Regardless, this is the dress I wore to my bridal shower, and although I love it, it was a pretty silly buy considering I can't wear a bra with it.  But I swear, I'm getting better with my purchases.  I really, really am. Enough blabber.

Have a great day!

52 Week Project: Week 25

Umm..it doesn't feel right that this is Week 26 (check out the other weeks here!) because that means we are halfway through the year.  And that certainly can't be right.  I feel like it was just the New Year.  And I guess I feel like it was just spring.  And wait, isn't it summer now? Time just goes too fast. Seriously, though.  It does.

This week is a preview of this month's fashion confessions (see it Thursday).  Enjoy your day!

Home Tour: Odds and Ends

And here we are, at the end of the home tour, with just a few odds and ends to get done.  Now, I'm sure there will be more home tour

update

posts as we live here, but the first round of things are officially done.

And it feels OH SO GOOD.

You might

remember

this above piece from a show I was working on, and although I don't tend to hang my own work in my house, this piece (after it didn't sell) was kind of made for the hallway.  I love that it brings in the black, white, grey and yellow accents from the guest room next to it. Happy, happy accident.

And of course to end it properly, a picture of the puggle.  On the nice, clean stairs with no dirty, dirty runner.  I love this dog. She waits so patiently until she knows you're coming down the stairs with her.

Happy Tabletop

I've been trying maintain a healthy lifestyle in an attempt to lose weight I've put on in the past year, and eating better is (and always has been) a struggle for me.  This is how I get my chocolate now.  Bunched with nuts.  And it's dark chocolate (not a fan!), but it's better than nothing.

I think.

Things currently making me happy:

-Running outside.  It's been about two years (or more!) since I've maintianed a running schedule, and it feels so good to start up again. There's something about running outside that's unlike any other work out for me.

-Hearing my adorable piggy sneeze for the first time.  And now that I've heard it, I can't believe I never had before. IT'S THE BEST! And I wasn't expecting it, so didn't record it, but I went ahead and googled a pig sneezing just for you. Unfortunately, no video does it justice for how cute it really is, so don't waste your time. I wasted it for you.

-Peaches. Enough said. Well maybe not. I'll say this...they have been

SO

good.

Happy Monday!

Home Tour: Basement

The basement is the only room in the house that's not exactly done, and that's mostly because we

NEVER

use it.  It's the only room that we haven't painted (and probably won't) because we actually didn't mind the color.  Really the only useful thing we did down here was turn an old closet that had no doors into a dog nook.  And while doing that, I happened to notice the basement used to be the color of the

old guest bathroom

upstairs, so it makes me appreciate the current color that much more!

Eventually, I'd love to do one or two hanging chairs down here and do something to take advantage of the ridiculously tall ceilings (maybe 12 feet).  For now it's just a basement that holds our extra things, music accessories, and our puggle while we're out of the house.  Hey, at least she likes her little nook.

And yes, these pictures are awful.  This basement has absolutely no light whatsoever and artificial light photography just ain't my jam. At all.

But cute puggles are!

xo, Laura

PS The corner gallery wall are the pictures we used at our

In Loving Memory table

from our wedding.  They make the basement so much more warm and inviting. I love those old pictures!

Happy Tabletop

I tend to be very clean and organized, but I have a tendency to hoard anything remotely related to arts and crafts (hello buttons, yarn, canvases, pastels, etc.). The last time I actually used a button from my stash - well, it has to be years.  OOPS!  Maybe I have an emotional attachment to buttons since that WAS Tessa's name when I first got her.  It just didn't fit if you know what I mean.

Things currently making me happy:

-Having the dog run free in the backyard and her not running away (she's part beagle and therefore thinks she's an explorer, which makes me very nervous, but she's been a good girl!)

-Having a deck that we actually use (somehow we never used it last year)

-Iced coffee. Iced coffee. And more iced coffee.  Oh, and iced lattes.

-My new car! Yep, that's right. For the first time in a long time, I have a new car and it feels OH SO GOOD!

-Lavender.  Growing on the deck. In a counter spray cleaner. As a scent on my body. I love it. And can't get enough of it!

Phoodle 7 (2014)

I had this idea about doing a few prints with some good old connect-the-dots, but this one isn't a great example.  It's very hard to see the numbers.   But they do, in fact,  make up that crown on the jellyfish's head.  All I want in life is a desktop jellyfish tank. Pllleaaaassse?

As always, you can see the rest of my phoodles

here

.

Happy Friday! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Nature Nerd: Garden Love

This is the first time I've done a garden in my very own home, and although it's a small, just-getting-started garden, it makes me very happy.

I couldn't help but to be reminded of Michael Scott from The Office writing his want ad for replacing Stanley..."Wanted, middle-aged black man with sass. Big butt, bigger heart."

Except mine was more like..."Wanted, tall, lean flowers. Must be purple. Must be pretty." Which is kind of strange because purple isn't really a go to color of mine, but when I saw the above flowers, I just needed them in my life.  And now they warm my heart each and everyday.  Oh nature, you make me so cheesy.

Happy girl.

Wedding: One Year Anniversary Pictures (Part 3)

There's nothing like a good old water balloon fight.  Isn't that right my love? Well, we had a good time at least.  Now..these bottom images were

supposed

to be animated gifs, but sometimes the technology in this universe just doesn't want to work with you. Believe me - they're much funnier big and moving, but oh well.  You win some, you lose some.

And that's the end of that! Happy Thursday!

Wedding: One Year Anniversary Pictures (Part 1)

As I already mentioned, I told my wonderful husband that I had lots of ideas for our one year anniversary pictures.  Like our

engagement pictures

, we took them ourselves with our handy dandy remote. While he was busy mowing the lawn, I was collecting lots of props - candles, cupcakes, lollipops, confetti, balloons, sparklers, bubbles, bubble gum, and water balloons.  And I think he thought I was kidding when I said the water balloons were waiting in the sink in powder room.  He's such a good sport :)

I wanted to do a bunch like the (faux)

photo-booth

we attempted awhile back.  We still look at those pictures (some our hanging in our bedroom) and laugh, so we thought we'd try again.  Enter lollipops, candles, cupcakes, confetti, and bubblegum.

Only two more parts to go! Overkill, I know. BUT I CAN'T HELP IT. My bad.  Check in tomorrow and Thursday for balloons, sparklers, and water balloons. Then back to the normal blog schedule next week.

Happy Tuesday!

52 Week Project: Week 22

Yep, I'm still continuing with the whole anniversary thing.  Hey, I'm still a newlywed (well, maybe) and I'm super excited about our first anniversary. So yea, I took out the wedding dress for this week.  And guess what - I couldn't even zip it.  I guess there's the happily married 15 too, huh? Time to hit the gym!

And stay tuned for our anniversary pictures later today!

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Tabletop

As you know, yesterday was our anniversary, and we celebrated by having a huge photo shoot (polaroids included).  Man, I love my man.

Things currently making me happy (beware - all about my love):

-He is such a good sport when I'm such a bossy photographer (I have a vision!)

-He ALWAYS rubs my head at night even though I know how exhausted he is

-He tells me he loves me and that I'm beautiful multiple times each and every day

-He is totally supportive of each and everything I do

-He is the best daddy to a piggy and a puggle

-He always makes me laugh

-He always makes my day better

Okay, enough gushing. Happy Monday!
