Happy Tabletop

I didn't have to wait until today (Thanksgiving) to start buying OR wrapping Christmas gifts this year.  I totally caved in early, and guess what, it's pretty fun! I love starting to see the presents pile up for everyone.  Oh Christmas, you're pretty rad.

Moments

The light danced in my closet, doors wide open, creating the most beautifully bouncing shadows I've seen in a long time.  People underestimate the light in autumn.

Moments

Because sometimes things are crisp and clear -- well defined.  But I find that to be rare.  Blurred and in and out of focus...yep, that's more like it.  There's a beauty behind squinting your eyes and changing your focus.  You just might see something completely different than you ever have before.  Beautiful blur, you're with me to stay.

On those days where I'm feeling somewhat insecure and uninspired (hello, we all have those days), a little touch of red makes all the difference in the world.  Red lips, red nails, red pea coat, red shirt, red glasses, red flower crown - whatever it may be, say hello to your new found confidence. Oh red, you're quite fantastic.  And you, sweet and powerful color, you continue to amaze me.

Nature Nerd

Just as I thought fall was escaping me quicker than it should be, nature clicked and thought, let me stay awhile. The sun is warm.  The air is slightly chilled.  The lighter jackets are rotating around the front hall closet.  And most importantly, the leaves decided to linger a bit and do what they do best - change.  Hello fall, you are amazing.

Sometimes nature just doesn't cooperate with you.  You're all set on seeing a backdrop full of beautiful autumn colors and all it shows you is green, green, green.  And then you remember the beauty of what it is to create.  Silly girl, you have had color at your very fingertips the entire time. Go ahead, color away.

And my love for softer, unexpected colors this fall continues (last seen here).

With the trees barely changing colors, yet somehow still losing leaves, this fall feels like spring.  And that means I'm expecting summer to be right around the corner.  Boy will I be angry when those sparkly white pieces of dust start to fall from the sky.

52 Week Project: Week 40

It was only days ago that we noticed the vibrant wild flowers in the backyard. I can't seem to remember them last fall.  They were simple, and beautifully colored yellow, and now...they are already dulled to the point where you can look past them without even noticing a hue of yellow.

Since when is fall so fleeting? Winter most definitely isn't. And spring..oh spring.  You get the many, many days where you are just starting to feel the warmth, sun gleaming down on your face.  It takes awhile to fully commit, but you can't complain - they very subtle change in temperature is enough to hold you over.  But fall.   A few good days and then you notice the trees are starting to become bare (did the leaves even change colors yet?), the air is crisp and chilled, and it's most definitely time to retire your beloved ballet flats.  Boots, even though I love you, it's too soon.  Fall, come back to me.  I barely even saw you.
