New Jersey hasn't given us the warmest welcome.  And no, not the people - they have been surprisingly lovely.  The weather.  Ugh, the weather.  It has been nonstop rain for a full week and it looks like we have another full week of it coming.

To be honest, it's made the transition a bit more rough, but hey, I'm working on it.  And waiting for the sun.  It's not a bad place to be.  XO

This is always the time of the year when I am just consumed and invigorated by color.  My jaw literally drops as I drive down the highway because the colors are THAT beautiful.  It really is such a special time of the year and goes by SO quickly that I try to soak it up as much as I can.

But man, oh man, the sun, the colors, the vibrance - I am just in happy color heaven.

After our time in New Jersey, I can't say I am back in the flow of things since being back.  It's kind of hard with our time being so limited here now (three more weeks!) and not to mention being 25 weeks pregnant.  I am craving more work, so hopefully it all falls into place.

And if not, guess what? It REALLY doesn't matter.  Isn't that a freeing feeling?

I think I've mentioned this in the past, but I have never really been a big fan of purple.  And yes, that is in part a lie because when I was little my entire room was lilac, including LOTS of accessories.  In fact, this past year, I was asked to wear purple to something, and I was surprised to see not only did I not have anything in purple, but I didn't even have anything that had bits of purple in it.  What I am beginning to realize, though, and fall in love with, is that certain colors can be brought back to life (to you) based on the other colors you're using.  So as you can tell from my inspiration board on my last post, purple is feeling mighty yummy these days.  It totally just depends what colors are working with it or against it.

Yay for more yummy colors.

A few weeks into my sketchbook and so far I realized two very important things.  First, there's nothing better than starting your day with your sketchbook.  I notice such a difference in the days that I do versus the days that I don't.

And second, when you give yourself freedom to do whatever it is you want (for once) and try to not limit yourself, your sketchbook somehow streamlines itself (where in the past it never did).  Funny how things work out.  Freedom is a good, good thing.
